Well today is Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to all.
Christmas is not really my favorite holiday. It takes a lot of energy out of me and too overwhelming. But it was a nice holiday at my familys house. I spent Christmas Eve and Day at my Aunt Karen's house.
Last night the person who played as Santa Clause came in and handed out presents to everybody. The Santa Clause even called out my name. What I got from him was some kind of gumball candies and a $50.00 bill stuck to it. Then I opened the gifts that my Aunt Sherie and my Dad gave to me. My Aunt Sherie got me a pair of warm black slippers, and my dad got me some shower gel and lotion that came with a bathroom caddy thing. I went to bed quite late that night at 12:30am so I had a hard time getting up early to chant my rounds. I got up so late around 8am and finished half of them then later in the morning while my family was eating breakfast and opening up their Christmas stockings i was outside finishing up my rounds. I came back in then.
After they had breakfast we opened our presents. My Aunt Karen bought me some clothes. I got a new pair of jeans, and some long sleeve shirts and two short sleeve shirts. I can wear them under my saris. My grandmother also got me some clothes too a short sleeve sweater like shirt and some kind of yellowish green dress pants. My Aunt Tracey got me a $20.00 gift card for CVS. So it more than enough. I don't really ask for anything for Christmas. Being a Hare Krishna devotee we are trained not to ask for anything material. But I let my family give gifts. I did my best to keep remembering Krishna during the whole thing.
Tonight I am going over my Uncle Chris's house again. He will take me to the temple tomorrow morning. Im anxious to get back to the temple. I miss my service and I miss seeing the Deities. I wasn't too crazy about Christmas dinner because my family eats meat and drink wine. The wine was actually making my stomach a bit nauseous as well as the meat. Ew. Im just glad it's finally over. At least for New Year's Eve I'll have a REAL party with devotees. We're going to have a 12 hour kirtan New Year's Eve party. At least I feel fit in there. Sometimes I feel a bit out of place around my family members but Im getting used to it a bit.
I hope the year 2012 will be a good one. I pray to Krishna that I may spiritually advance more and surrender more unto Him. Maybe I should try to make some new year's resolutions for Krishna. :)
