Merry Christmas
Well today is Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to all.
Christmas is not really my favorite holiday. It takes a lot of energy out of me and too overwhelming. But it was a nice holiday at my familys house. I spent Christmas Eve and Day at my Aunt Karen's house.
Last night the person who played as Santa Clause came in and handed out presents to everybody. The Santa Clause even called out my name. What I got from him was some kind of gumball candies and a $50.00 bill stuck to it. Then I opened the gifts that my Aunt Sherie and my Dad gave to me. My Aunt Sherie got me a pair of warm black slippers, and my dad got me some shower gel and lotion that came with a bathroom caddy thing. I went to bed quite late that night at 12:30am so I had a hard time getting up early to chant my rounds. I got up so late around 8am and finished half of them then later in the morning while my family was eating breakfast and opening up their Christmas stockings i was outside finishing up my rounds. I came back in then.
After they had breakfast we opened our presents. My Aunt Karen bought me some clothes. I got a new pair of jeans, and some long sleeve shirts and two short sleeve shirts. I can wear them under my saris. My grandmother also got me some clothes too a short sleeve sweater like shirt and some kind of yellowish green dress pants. My Aunt Tracey got me a $20.00 gift card for CVS. So it more than enough. I don't really ask for anything for Christmas. Being a Hare Krishna devotee we are trained not to ask for anything material. But I let my family give gifts. I did my best to keep remembering Krishna during the whole thing.
Tonight I am going over my Uncle Chris's house again. He will take me to the temple tomorrow morning. Im anxious to get back to the temple. I miss my service and I miss seeing the Deities. I wasn't too crazy about Christmas dinner because my family eats meat and drink wine. The wine was actually making my stomach a bit nauseous as well as the meat. Ew. Im just glad it's finally over. At least for New Year's Eve I'll have a REAL party with devotees. We're going to have a 12 hour kirtan New Year's Eve party. At least I feel fit in there. Sometimes I feel a bit out of place around my family members but Im getting used to it a bit.
I hope the year 2012 will be a good one. I pray to Krishna that I may spiritually advance more and surrender more unto Him. Maybe I should try to make some new year's resolutions for Krishna. :)

At the Sobek's House
I am at my Uncle Chris and Aunt Sherie's house. They call it "The Sobek's House."
Yesterday my Uncle Chris came to pick me up at the temple at 12 noon. He asked me if he were to pick me up at either 11 or 12 and I said 12 noon so that i can still do my service before I leave. That particular Friday morning I was asked to help with the flowers in the pujari room. I had cut off the stems of the carnations and put them in plastic baggies. Then I swept the cooler out and put the roses back in. I also helped to sweep the other floor in the room where they were arranging the flowers and bring in clean buckets. And lastly the nice Mataji I think her name is Narayani from what I remember. She asked me if I can make flower garlands big or small and i said I could do both. She had asked me if I coud make Srila Prabhupada's garland but I had to decline because I was leaving early that morning to go to my Uncle Chris's house. But I felt so honored that she asked me to make Srila Prabhupada's garland. I told her I can help Sunday when I come back. Then after I helped in the pujari room, I went to help in the kitchen for two hours. I wanted to help them as I know they were short on help.
So after my Uncle picked me up we went to a couple stores. He went to this german store and bought liquor. Yuck. Then he went to this store called the Kitchenette to buy wire whisks. And lastly he surprised me by taking me to this music store. I thought he was going to get me a musical instrument but it was not the case. He had bought me a Beatles Trivia Pursuit game for a Christmas Gift. I thought that was nice of him. I could play the game with my dad when he visits I suppose. Then we went to his house. I asked if I could have the password to his internet and he told me where i could find the password on his modem so now I am using the internet. I was able to do my homework assignement from Maharaj since he wanted me to listen to at least one Prabhupada lecture a day. I listened to one already this morning as I will be busy later today at my Aunt Karen's house.
I went to bed at 9pm last night and woke up late at 5am. Good thing I wasn't in the temple I would have been mad at myself for missing Mangal Aarti. But I did my rounds as soon as I got up and had them finished by 7am because I didn't want to do my rounds around my family members. It'd be too distracting.
My Aunt Karen is having us celebrat Christmas on Christmas Eve. We have to be at her house by 3pm today. I think we willl be having dinner at 4pm then my Aunt literally hired someone to be Santa Clause to bring presents for everybody. And then afterwards it's just social hour. Me well Im not too crazy about the whole idea i feel a lot more comfy at the temple doing my service and thinking of Krishna. But I am doing this out of duty for family members as my guru Maharaj said it is okay to spend time with them just not too much time with them. So I had permission from him that makes me feel a little better but still.
But anyways it's nice being with my Aunt Sherie and Uncle Chris they are funny people. My cousin Matthew is here too but he was highly intoxicated when he came in. I think he's got a bit of a drinking problem and he's younger than me. He even offered me a beer and I said NO thank you right away. My Aunt Sherie asked me if I wanted any eggs for breakfast and I immediately said no thank you to that too thinking of my four regulative principles I must follow 1. No eating meat fish or eggs 2. No intoxication 3. No Gambling 4. No illicit sex. Im sticking by those principles because I do not want to spiritually harm my guru Maharaj. I know later they will have Christmas desserts all of which I have to decline because they have eggs in them. Oh well. I just hope my Aunt has something vegetarian otherwise I will just have a salad and that's it which is fine for me Or i can make something for Krishna and myself whatever vegetables she may have if she doesn't mind. I will ask her later.

Pictures of My Baby Tulasis
In case anyone here who has not seen the baby Tulasis I had planted in Toronto here they are! These are the most recent photos I have of her. I miss her so much. The first four pictures are of my oldest young tulasis I've planted back in mid august. I just took these photos of her at the end of November. Her leaves are the size of the palm of my hand. Im sure she's grown a lot since I've been gone from Toronto nearly three weeks. *sigh* I hate being separated from her!!!I miss doing aartis for her and reading to her etc. I would spent four hours or more in her green house doing service for her and I am aching to go back to that service.
A Deity of Vrnda Devi That I Want VERY Much
This morning I was on krishna.com browsing their store and a deity had caught my attention! They have a Deity of Vrnda Devi and I want her so badly!! But she costs $139.00 I'll have to save every single penny to get her! If I can't have an actual Tulasi plant then I will try to get this Deity of her! Here is a link to see her.

Vrnda Devi is Tulasi. She arranges Radha and Krishna's pasttimes which is why she has a parrot in her hand because she sends her parrots to tell Them where to meet. I hope Krishna will let me have her in her Deity form from this store, because that would definately help ease the pain of separation from her in Toronto. I have a Lord Nrsimahadeva Deity that I currently take care of but I want Vrnda Devi now too! I love her a lot because she's been so merciful to me. I have a picture of Vrnda Devi in a Deity form of her in India.
Im very excited about seeing this Deity on their website. I hope they will have her for awhile until I can save up for her. It'll take me a couple weeks probably unless I can manage to get her after Christmas somehow. Maybe by the end of Janurary I can get her.
They also have Krishna and Balaram Deities too that I'd LOVE to have but I want Vrnda Devi first. :D I want to get her before they run out!
